Lovely Evening With A Great Surprise
David Gray's performance was both terrific and extraordinarily energetic. He played some new songs as well as his well-known numbers. Great, great performance.
One of the big surprises was the opening act, Glen Matlock and his band, who spun pure magic with their thoughtful and moving music. He is a master lyricist. I was literally moved to tears during one of his solo performances. Glen, you are awesome!
Tift Merritt was the other surprise of the evening and she blew me away. She reminded me a little of Patty Griffin with a touch of Janis Joplin. I could have listened to her all night. Not only is she a great singer, but a terrific musician as well. She is certainly someone to follow.
Being at the Greek Theater on a beautiful evening, listening to some really great artists perform beautiful music, just doesn't get much better.
